Baltimore attracts over 14 million visitors each year. They come for the hospitality and the warmth of the locals. The Inner Harbour is where most people would start their tour of Baltimore. The Harbour place has a festive market place and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. One can take a stroll through the Walters Gallery, or even the John Russell Pope designed Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA). The Walters Art Gallery has a great collection of Egyptian artefacts that is world famous. It also has some Faberge eggs and lots of medieval armour. The BMA houses the 2nd largest private collection of Andy Warhol paintings in America. At the Johns Hopkins University one can visit the Lacrosse Museum or watch the Johns Hopkins lacrosse games that are played here. The B & O Railroad Museum at Mount Clare houses the first railroading system in the country. Also is the USS Constellation, which is the only surviving Civil war ship that was built by the navy. Also here is the USS Torsk and a floating lighthouse and over 14 other maritime related historical sites in the city that you can visit. Other places to visit would be the Eubie Blake National Museum and Cultural Centre, the Baltimore Street Car Museum, and the Great Blacks in Wax Museum. There is also the Public Works Museum. The Baltimore antique row as well as the many boutiques around town will have a great display of jewellery, furniture and sea faring gear on offer. |
